PetWiseCare Ltd. (“Company”, “we”, “our”, “us”) is committed to protecting the personal data of its users. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, store, and process your data when you use our website https://petwisecare.com or our mobile application (the “App”), including services for pet sitters, pet owners, and other users.

This Policy complies with the applicable data protection laws, including the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and relevant Hungarian laws.

3.2 Service Provider Data (Sitters)

  • Service description and motto

  • Service location(s) and availability
  • Pricing and offer details
  • SOS sitting availability

3.3 Booking & Transaction Data

  • Booking requests and confirmations
  • Offers sent and received
  • Payment information (via Barion or other payment providers)

5. Legal Basis for Processing

  • Contract performance – to provide our services (Art. 6(1)(b))

  • Legitimate interest – for fraud prevention, service improvement, and security (Art. 6(1)(f))
  • Legal obligations – to comply with tax, accounting, and other laws (Art. 6(1)(c))

6. Data Retention

We retain personal data indefinitely unless:

  • You request deletion, or
  • We are legally required to delete it.

Booking, transaction, and invoice data may be kept for at least 8 years in compliance with accounting regulations.

  • Other users (e.g., sitters and pet owners, to fulfil bookings)
  • Payment providers (Barion, banks)
  • Analytics and marketing partners (Google, Meta)
  • IT service providers (hosting, email services)

Some of our service providers (e.g., Google, Meta, Firebase) may process data outside the European Economic Area. We ensure appropriate safeguards (e.g., Standard Contractual Clauses) are in place.

11. Account Deletion & Data Retention (Sitter App)

How to delete your account.
You can delete your account at any time from the Sitter app: Profile → Settings → Delete Account. If you are unable to access the app, you may request deletion by emailing [email protected] from the email address linked to your account. We may ask you to verify your identity.

What is deleted.
When you delete your account, we permanently delete or irreversibly anonymize the following, within our production systems:

  • Profile data (name, display name, profile photo, bio, languages, service areas)
  • Pet and listing data you created
  • Conversations and messages (including attachments) where legally permitted
  • Offers, quotes, availability entries, saved searches, favorites
  • Device identifiers used for push notifications
  • Marketing preferences and tokens used for app analytics tied to your identity

Payments and payout data.
We do not store full payment card details. Payment instruments are tokenized by our payment processor (e.g., Stripe, Barion). Upon account deletion we remove our references to your payment profiles and instruct our processor to delete or de-identify any linked customer profile to the extent permitted by their legal obligations and policies.

What we may retain (and why).
Certain information must be retained for legal, regulatory, fraud-prevention, security, or accounting purposes. This may include:

  • Transaction records, invoices, payout records and receipts
  • Tax-relevant data and audit logs
  • Records of consents, account status changes, and abuse/fraud prevention logs
  • Aggregated or anonymized analytics that cannot identify you

We keep this data only as long as required by applicable law (for example, accounting/tax records are commonly retained for 6–10 years, depending on jurisdiction) or for the establishment, exercise, or defense of legal claims. After these periods expire, data is deleted or anonymized.

Backups.
Deleted data may persist in encrypted backups for up to 90 days due to disaster-recovery procedures. It is automatically purged on the next scheduled rotation and is not used for any active processing.

Third-party processors.
Where we share data with processors (e.g., hosting, payments, analytics, customer support), we instruct them to delete or de-identify your personal data consistent with this policy and applicable law.

Effects of deletion.
Account deletion is irreversible. Your profile becomes inaccessible, your messages and listings are removed (subject to the retention exceptions above), and you will lose access to bookings/offers and any remaining credits or promotions.

Your rights.
Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, delete, or port your personal data. To exercise these rights, contact [email protected].

  • Request deletion (“right to be forgotten”)
